Edeet Ravel was born on Kibbutz Sasa, an Israel collective farm near the Lebanese border. She moved at age eight with her parents back to their native country of Canada where they lived in Montreal. She returned to Israel at age 18 to complete her BA and MSF as an English major in Jerusalem. Five years later, she moved back to Canada and completed her MA and PhD in Jewish Studies at McGill, in Biblical Exegesis, and an MA in Creative Writing at Concordia University.
She taught for two decades (Holocaust Studies, Hebrew Literature and Biblical Exegesis at McGill, Creative Writing at Concordia University, and English Literature at John Abbott College).
Edeet Ravel and her daughter live in Guelph, Ontario.
