Dr. Atul Gawande is Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, Harvard Med School; Assistant Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School; and General and Endocrine Surgeon, Brigham and Women's Hospital.
He writes the "Notes of a Surgeon" column for the New England Journal of Medicine and has been a staff writer for the New Yorker magazine since 1998.
